[FREEPORT, IL – July 26, 2023] – The Foundation for Northwest Illinois is hosting the 2nd Annual Bridges to the Future Gala on August 3, celebrating the vital work and achievement of area nonprofits and their leaders who are deeply enriching lives while effectively achieving their organizations’ mission and goals. The Gala will feature emcee Mark Henderson, Chief Meteorologist of WIFR, channel 23 out of Rockford.

The Matthew A Marvin Community Impact Award is given in honor and memory of local philanthropist, Matt Marvin, who understood the value of being involved and giving back to his community. This year, the award is to be presented to James Rhyne in recognition of his dedication to youth development dating back over 30 years at The Boys & Girls Club of Stephenson County & Northwest Illinois.

The Craig Wilson Ecological Stewardship Award is given in honor and memory of Northwest Illinois resident, Craig Wilson, well-known for his devotion to agriculture and the outdoors. This year, the award is to be presented to Dave & Pat Casper of Galena for their enduring contributions to the conservation of farmland, the Native American land heritage, and the native woodland and prairie habitats of the Driftless region through their relationship with the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation.

“Northwest Illinois is a natural wonder, rich in scenic beauty and abundant in recreational opportunities. But more than that, the wealth of our region is most truly found in the generosity and decisive leadership of those who have invested their time, talent, and treasure in their communities,” stated Michelle-DeHaven Quast, CEO of The Foundation for Northwest Illinois. “James Rhyne has worked tirelessly for more than 30 years to positively influence youth while advancing awareness of race and racisim. The Caspers’ interest in preserving the natural beauty and rich native American history of the region is a testament to their commitment to the present and future of Northwest Illinois.”

Limited seating is still available for the Bridges to the Future Gala.
RSVP is required by 5 PM, Monday, July 31.
