The Blackhawk Area Boy Scouts were awarded $5,775 in our 2022 Spring Grant cycle. The grant is for the Exploring program which is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and the organization/businesses in the community. Businesses and community organizations initiate a career-specific Exploring Post or Club by matching their people and organizational resources to the career interests of youth in the community. The result is a program of interactive activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.
Freeport’s existing Exploring Post has recently been headed by Travis Holz through the Freeport Fire Station. This Exploring Post provides hands-on fire/rescue career experiences to youth throughout the community. Blackhawk Area Council will grow the current program and establish 3 more Exploring Posts/Clubs to encompass a variety of career interest areas that will attract and enrich youth and inspire them to participate in their own community.
