This spring, The Foundation for Northwest Illinois was privledged to work with the Freeport Police Department on a campaign to raise funds for a new K9 unit. With contributions totalling $11,825, the new K9 “DJ” was equipped with basic training and equipment, along with a $1000 Grow Grant from The Foundation for DJ’s protective gear. The specialized skills that DJ brings to the Freeport Police Department will strengthen the efforts that lead to a safe and secure environment for residents.
